The Boston Marathon bombing made the threat of terrorism at large public events into an unfortunate reality which requires our society to change the way we look at security. David Boehm, retired NYPD Lieutenant and COO of Security USA, Inc. explains the impact in this CBS 2 News interview.
In the wake of the Boston Marathon bobmbing, Security USA's David Boehm was interviewed by CBS 2 News about the impact the attack will have on security in the future. Mr. Boehm explained that there will definitely be more sweeps of the area of a race or other public event by both police and private security before and during the event. They will be looking for unattended packages, vehicles where they don't belong and anything else that seems out of place.
Often, the effectiveness of a security plan can be in the details. Deploying extra security officers and utilizing sureveillance equipment may be the most effective means of avoiding future tragedies like the Boston Marathon bombing. In this age where anything can become a bomb and terrorism is a very real threat, vigilance is the best strategy for security at public events.
